Research Project: Characterization of the RNA recognition properties of Cleavage and
Polyadenylation Specificity Factor 30 (CPSF30): A Novel Drug Target for Carcinoma.
Faculty Mentor: Dr. Sarah L. J. Michele
My project will focus on elucidating the molecular basis of the interaction
between Cleavage and Polyadenylation Specificity Factor (CPSF – a protein involved in
RNA processing) and its RNA targets. The first phase of the project will involve
identifying potential RNA targets of CPSF30 and determining their structures using insilico
and in-vitro approaches, while the second phase will comprise investigating how
the interaction between CPSF30 and its RNA targets occurs.
